Tottenham Hotspur face a defining night in their season as they travel to Norway to take on Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.

Supporters will be hoping Ange Postecoglou’s side can finish the job after a commanding 3-1 first-leg win in north London last week — arguably Spurs’ best display of the campaign.

A three-goal cushion inside 61 minutes seemed to have put them on the fast track to a likely all-English final against Manchester United, only for Ulrik Saltnes to pull one back late on, injecting huge jeopardy into the return leg.

With their domestic season faltering, this competition remains Tottenham’s only realistic shot at silverware – their first since 2008 — and a coveted route back into the Champions League.

Postecoglou clearly had one eye on the trip when naming his starting XI for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham.

Only Guglielmo Vicario, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison retained their places as the Australian rotated heavily to keep legs fresh. That result did at least halt a three-game losing run in the Premier League and may provide a psychological boost.

Spurs head to Norway as favourites both to win on the night and to progress, having not lost by a margin of two or more goals in this season’s Europa League.

However, Postecoglou’s last visit to Bodo ended in a 2-0 defeat with Celtic in 2022, and Tottenham have struggled away from home, losing seven of their last ten on the road in all competitions.

Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, will be buoyed by the return of key players Patrick Berg, Hakon Evjen and Andreas Helmersen, all of whom missed the first leg due to suspension.

The Norwegian champions also boast an impressive European home record, having seen off the likes of FC Twente, Olympiacos, and Porto — scoring three goals against each.
