Cops raced to Frederick Nattrass Primary School, in Cleveland, at 10.50am this morning after a projectile was thought to be on the school grounds.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are liaising with emergency services on the scene and students were quickly removed from the premises for safety.

Staff and locals were also urged to vacate the area and members of the public have been warned to avoid the school.

Cops remain at the school while the artillery round, equipment typically used to deliver explosives, is being dealt with.
