“Following a suspicious report, we are fully investigating the situation. We are still busy with all the verifications.”

Security agents were reportedly seen swooping the area while carrying automatic weapons.

It is understood only the departure and baggage reclaim section is under threat and not the entire airport building.

Chaotic passengers are now stuck inside the airport as they wait for further instructions from the authorities.

While passengers who just landed have been forced to stay inside their aircraft.

One passenger travelling via the airport wrote on X/Twitter: “We have all been quarantined for more than half an hour behind the electronic gates towards baggage claim.

“There is talk of explosives. Many agents with automatic weapons present.”

One of the spokesperson for the airport said: “Following a suspicious report, they have cleared certain areas. Passengers will have to wait a while before they can leave the areas.”
