Boy, 13, arrested after teenager ‘confronted by group & stabbed on bus’ in seaside town centre

A 13-YEAR-old has been arrested after a teenage boy was “approached and stabbed” on board a bus.

The victim also a teenage boy, was assaulted near a Co-op store in Eastbourne, East Sussex, at around 7.40pm on Saturday.

He was rushed to hospital with a stab wound, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

A 13-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a boy was assaulted on board a bus in Eastbourne.

The incident happened on board the number 1 service in Cornfield Road, Eastbourne, at about 7.40pm on Saturday 5 April.

A teenage boy was approached by other teenage boys and was assaulted, near to the Co-op store.

“He sustained an injury consistent with a stabbing, and attended hospital.

“The injury was not life-threatening and he has since been discharged.

“A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

“He has been bailed, pending further enquiries.

A statement from the force added: “Police are conducting increased patrols in the town centre to provide reassurance.

“Officers are aware of social media comments about this incident, and ask the public not to speculate about it online as this may jeopardise the ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with further information has been asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1234 of 05/04.
