A YOUNG boy died after swallowing a drawing pin as his heartbroken mum told an inquest today he was the “light of our lives”.
Kyle Lewis, five, was at his uncle’s home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, when the horror unfolded.

The youngster was rushed to hospital where medics tried to carry out a tracheotomy, which helps air and oxygen reach the lungs.
After unsuccessfully to removing the pin, Kyle was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary but died two days later on October 28, 2022.
An inquest into his death heard how it had obstructed Kyle’s airway – causing him to die from oxygen loss.
Pathologist Marta Cohen told the hearing at Doncaster Coroner’s Court that the 1cm pin was still present when a post-mortem was carried out.
Kyle’s final moments were revealed at the hearing, where his parents Mark and Ema Lewis paid tribute to the youngster.
They described him as “cheeky and fun-loving” and “an adorable boy who was the light of our lives”.
The couple added: “Losing Kyle has broken us beyond words.
“We will love him and miss him forever.”
The inquest, which is listed for four days, continues.
