The suspected hitman had a run-in with two women at a petrol station and crashed his car shortly after, according to local paper Diario Sur.
He reportedly began harassing two Dutch women after trying to get them to buy him cocaine.
The suspect – described locally as having links with “one of London’s most dangerous crime gangs” – tried to flee as police arrived at the scene.
Police released photos of the objects seized in his smashed-up car.
They include pistols, ammunition, a silencer and a book titled ‘Practical Buddhism and the Search for Self’.
The arrest was made in an area called Riviera between La Cala de Mijas and Marbella.
A spokesperson for Mijas police said: “A British man has been arrested in Riviera who had a warrant out for him ordering his remand in prison for murder.”
They explained: “While conducting surveillance work in La Cala de Mijas, officers were called yesterday to deal with an altercation at a petrol station in the area.
“Upon arrival, they interviewed a customer at the station who stated that a foreign man who had been harassing her had already driven away from the scene.
“Shortly afterwards, a call was received alerting us to an accident on Orfebres Street in Riviera.
“Upon arrival the officers found a damaged vehicle that matched the one involved in the incident at the petrol station.
“The driver attempted to flee when he saw police but was quickly intercepted by the officers.
“Once identified, they verified that he was a British man with a warrant for his arrest and remand in prison for murder.
“He was also carrying several firearms and a large amount of ammunition which were seized.”
Police said he was handed over to the Civil Guard and jailed soon after.
No details were given about the nature of the crimes, his name or age.
Diario Sur reported on Saturday: “An investigation remains open to clarify his links with organised crime.”
The Sun has contacted the Met for comment.
It comes as two alleged members of a “professional” robbery gang were arrested in Marbella after raiding at least nine tourist flats.
The pair nicked items worth over £550,000 while tourists were outside their homes, Spain’s National Police said.
