A BRITISH dad was left bloodied after being bitten by a whopping 300lb shark in a horror attack while on a fishing “trip of a lifetime” with pals.

Curtis Miller, 30, suffered deep wounds to his arm and needed 91 stitches and three arteries tied to stop the bleeding.

Curtis went to South Africa for a fishing trip with pals when he was attacked by a sand tiger shark.

He managed to catch the shark and was just taking the hook off its mouth when the beast suddenly attacked and grabbed his arm.

Within just moments, Curtis realised he was losing a lot of blood – and was left with horrific injuries on his arms.

The dad of two said: “I didn’t feel anything at first, then felt how powerful it was and saw the amount of blood I was losing.

“The boys I was with attended to it and the local ranger took me to a private hospital.

“I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

His mum Helen, 60, said: “He phoned me the following day after he’d been in hospital, and I was just beside myself.

“I had a breakdown and had to pass the phone over to my husband.

“I didn’t know whether he’d lost a leg or lost an arm when he phoned, all I could see was his face and he went ‘mum I’ve got something to tell you, I’ve been bitten by a shark.’

“It’s your worst nightmare.”

However, Curtis, who suffered deep wounds to his arm and needed 91 stitches, was more upset about his damaged tattoo.

Mum Helen added: “He was really lucky that he didn’t lose his arm as there was a lot of blood.

“He was more upset that he missed the last four days of fishing, and it’s damaged his tattoo.

“He said it’s a tale to tell his children and grandchildren.”

She said Curtis’ two children, Belle, nine, and Cruz, three, were amazed to learn what happened to their dad.

Belle had been “talking about it nonstop”, the mum added.

Curtis is now back in the UK where he is receiving further treatment.

It comes after a bungling fisherman slipped on a rock and landed on top of a shark – narrowly escaping a fatal bite from the beast.

The man, seen wearing a pair of white Crocs, lost his balance and plunged straight into the water where a deadly shark attempted to bite his leg off.

Meanwhile, a man was airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a shark in waters off a popular tourist island.

The victim was found suffering from abdominal injuries and deep lacerations to his leg.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Moreton Island, QueenslandAustralia.

The man was treated at the scene before being flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.

It comes just weeks after 17-year-old Charlize Zmuda was fatally mauled by a shark at Woorim Beach, Bribie Island.
