A BRIT roofer has been arrested for allegedly smuggling 39 bags of drugs across the world after a flight from Thailand.

Cops swooped in on the 29-year-old at an airport in Zagreb, Croatia, after an x-ray showed his bag bulging with suspicious packages.

The Brit was allegedly found with 39 bags of drugs

The bags had all been stuffed inside this black suitcase

Tests showed his suitcase was crammed full with over 23kg of marijuana.

The man claimed to have no idea about his cargo – but is now being investigated for attempting to smuggle drugs.

He had travelled with it from Thailand, through Istanbul, and finally to Franjo Tuđman Airport in the Croatian capital.

Local media reported that the black suitcase was flagged by sniffer dogs before being taken for more thorough investigations.

The Brit, decked out in summer gear, was then confronted with the contents.

Some 39 vacuum-sealed bags filled with plant matter were lying on the airport floor.

Chemical tests showed it contained THC – the psychoactive substance in marijuana.

The roofer was whisked off to the local police station for questioning, where he reportedly abandoned his clueless claim.

He told interrogators he had been forced into carrying the drugs, according to local media reports.

He is now being held in a cell while he awaits trial.

The judge recommended he not be allowed bail because he is a foreigner, and so there is a risk he will attempt to flee from Croatia.
