She stole more than £250 worth of chocolate from a Tesco Express in Mansfield Woodhouse.

On four separate occasions between July 20 and August 1, Godley helped herself to a selection of chocolates from the store’s shelves.

CCTV captured the Mansfield woman on each of her visits.

She can first be seen wearing a black hooded puffer jacket, reaching and taking a number of boxes from the top shelf.

Then in a yellow puffer jacket, she is caught collecting some red Celebrations chocolate boxes.

Godley is next seen wearing a pink shirt walking from the Tesco snack aisle holding an array of posh sweet boxes.

In a final clip, she walks briskly from the same aisle, taking a quick glance back towards a man who can then be seen taking some more snacks from the shelf.

Police are also looking for the other offender who was involved in one of the shoplifting incidents on August 1.

Officers from the Mansfield neighbourhood police team arrested Godley following her identification from the footage.

She appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, September 5 and pleaded guilty to four counts of shop theft.

Godley was sentenced to 20 months in jail.

Police Constable of Nottinghamshire Police Daniel Howard said: “Most shoplifting offences are committed by a small group of repeat offenders – most of them stealing to fund addictions.

“Shoplifting is not only unfair on the shops and staff who work there, but to the honest members of the public who spend their hard-earned money on their shopping.

“I hope this action reassures local businesses and the public that we will continue to do what we can to protect them from persistent offenders.”

It comes as figures have shown almost 800 shoplifting cases a day went unsolved last year.

Some 289,464 were also closed without a suspect identified in 2024/25, which was up 18 per cent from the year before.

What has been labelled Britain’s “shoplifting epidemic” has cost households £147 a year, as stores have hiked up their prices.

And for retailers, that has been about £4.2billion across the sector, according to the British Retail Consortium.
