His father Terry, who died of cancer aged 76 in 2021, fought to get justice as no one was ever charged.

Now Stuart’s older brother Kevin, 56, has taken up the campaign.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “I won’t rest until I get the answers we need. Stuart deserves that at least.

“He was sexually assaulted. That is a fact. I hope that with a new government in power we can finally see action taken.”

The Rt Hon Lord Richard Hermer KC was appointed Attorney General in July.

The first inquest in 2002 returned an open verdict.

Barrymore, now 72, has always denied involvement in the death in Roydon, Essex.

He was arrested in 2007 with two others but all were released without charge.

Last night a police spokesman said: “We remain committed to finding answers to provide closure.”
