Canaries in RED ALERT for ‘hurricane-force’ Storm Nuria bringing ‘maximum danger’ as tourists warned and schools close

A STATE of maximum Red Alert for wind has been declared by the Canary Islands Government on the islands of Tenerife and La Palma.

Tourists have been urged to avoid these areas between midnight tonight up until Thursday April 3rd.

Hurricane-force gusts of 110 to 130 kilometres per hour and even stronger, along with dangerous sea conditions, are expected on the Canary islands.

Storm Nuria is set to bring rain, strong winds and cooler temperatures to much of Spain.
