The mega-fight – which saw over 70,000 pack out the Allegiant Stadium – followed just one month after Canelo’s baby daughter Eva Victoria was born.

So the father-of-four plans to make up for lost time before he can think about what comes next in his boxing career.

“I want to speak to my family for obviously the support that they always give me, Canelo said, through a translator.

“Tonight is an opportunity to learn. That’s what I told my family,  tonight was an opportunity to learn and to evolve.

“I learn from defeat and also I haven’t had the chance to talk about the next step or the future yet.

“I want to enjoy my family, my daughter is a month old. I just want to be able to enjoy and see what comes next.”

Canelo was outboxed over 12 rounds by Crawford – who had jumped up two weights and 14lb for the Vegas blockbuster.

The 35-year-old legend was made to pay as he went searching for one big punch while Crawford won the day through combination and counter-punching.

Canelo vs Crawford – All the info

IT’S finally time – one of the biggest boxing matches EVER takes place THIS WEEKEND.

Two of boxing’s GOATs will meet in the ring as they fight for pound-for-pound supremacy and the super-middleweight crown.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford have been fixtures in the top of the rankings for years and are considered among the best to ever do it.

Unbeaten Crawford, who beat Israil Madrimov to win the light-middleweight title last time out, hasn’t fought for a year.

He is jumping up two weight divisions to meet Canelo, having spent most of his career weighing in even lighter.

Mexican favourite Canelo has scored title defences over Edgar Berlanga and William Scull since Crawford was last inside a ring.

Canelo – who turned pro aged just 15 – showed signs of frustration at times in the fight – picking Crawford up and threatening to chuck him over the ropes.

And Canelo admitted: “Sometimes you try and your body cannot go, right?

“That was my frustration. Maybe I can figure out Crawford but my body cannot go any more.

“I tried but my body does not let me go. And you need to accept it.”

Canelo – a champ in four divisions himself – is without a world title around his waist for the first time in TEN YEARS

But flanked by his daughter Mia and wife Fernanda, he said: “No matter what, I still feel a champion.

“It is what it is, you need to take a loss and accept everything. But I’m going to continue.”

Canelo suffered his first defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather in 2013 when he was just 23.

I want to enjoy my family, my daughter is a month old. I just want to be able to enjoy and see what comes next.

And now 42-0 Crawford is creeping up on Mayweather’s unmatched 50-0 record and legacy with comparisons being drawn between the American icons.

Canelo has fought both and concluded: “I think Crawford is way better than Floyd Mayweather.”

Crawford, 37, made history as the first man in boxing history to become undisputed champ in THREE divisions and was also probed on his links to Mayweather.

But he said:  “Floyd was the greatest in his era. I’m the greatest in my era. It ain’t no need to compare me to Floyd or Floyd to me.”

Crawford equalled Mayweather’s record of winning belts in FIVE different divisions.

He improved to 42-0 and added the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO 168lb titles to his cabinet – which was first filled with gold from the 135lb lightweight limit.

Crawford showed off his collection of shiny new straps snatched from Canelo’s waist – and used it as evidence of his triumphant upset.

He smirked: “The ones that doubted me, they know. I don’t have to say I told you so or rub it in their face. This right here is I told you so.”
