SUPER League stars may get what they are asking for – the ability to question referees’ decisions.

For it is likely the captain’s challenge will be implemented next season.

Super League having a video referee at all matches has opened p the chance of introducing the Captain’s Challenge in 2025SWPIX.COM

Demand is high for the concept, which works like cricket’s review system and has been in the NRL and World Cup for some time.

And head of referees Phil Bentham conceded 2025 may see it come in for this side of the world now every game is broadcast.

He said: “Lots of players and lots of coaches think it’s a great idea.

“We could never do it as we didn’t feel that with two video referees and four games without that it would be a fair playing field.

“If you could imagine a last minute try at a game that’s not on TV and that captain couldn’t challenge that call, that’s not fair on the league.

“We’re not in that situation any more.

“It’s certainly something I’m working on with the NRL, just to get their feel on it as there are a few critics of it over there.

“We don’t want to bring something in that they suddenly drop because internationally it looks foolish.

“We need to work with them and come to an agreement so the international game looks like both elite competitions.”
