Ruben Amorim’s side finished 15th in the table last term to wrap up a miserable campaign.
But with some exciting new faces on board, United will be looking to reclaim the Carabao Cup after winning it last year under former boss Erik ten Hag.
And their first opponent on their potential way to Wembley will be Grimsby, who will be relishing the prospect of welcoming Bruno Fernandes and Co to Blundell Park.
Elsewhere in the northern section, Everton host Mansfield while Wrexham travel to Preston.
Sunderland could take on Leicester, while Leeds face a potential trip to stricken Sheffield Wednesday.
Moving to the southern section, Bournemouth host Brentford in a tasty all-Prem tie.
There’s a second top-flight battle too as West Ham travel to Wolves.
Meanwhile, Millwall welcome Coventry to The Den.
