MANCHESTER UNITED have landed a huge glamour tie in a simulated Carabao Cup second round draw.

Due to their lack of European football this season – following a 15th place in the Premier League and defeat in the Europa League final to Tottenham – the Red Devils are entering the second round of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2014.

They are one of 11 top-flight clubs not participating in European competition this season to enter at this stage.

The 23 Round Two matches will take place in the week commencing August 25, while the remaining nine Prem sides – including holders Newcastle – will enter in round three in September.

Sky Sports presenter Mark Chapman will host the draw at approximately 7:20pm tonight.

There were some major upsets in round one action last night, including Bromley beating Ipswich and Doncaster smashing Middlesbrough – with five more games to be played out tonight.

SunSport have thrown United and all their potential rivals into a simulated draw to see who they could face, with the competition split into a Northern and Southern section up until round three.

And as if the football gods are fans of a Hollywood script, the biggest team in the competition have been drawn against Ryan Reynolds‘ and Rob McElhenney‘s Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

With a capacity of just 12,600, the newly-promoted Championship sides stadium is a far cry from the 75,000 capacity Old Trafford, though it could no less become a theatre where dreams are made.

Elsewhere, Tom Brady‘s Birmingham will potentially face one of Huddersfield or Leicester if they progress past Sheffield United this evening – with that clash being aired free on ITV.
