An inquest into her death today heard how her cause of death was given as a severe traumatic skull fracture and brain injuries.

A full hearing was adjourned pending the outcome of a police investigation.

Dr Sean Cummings, assistant coroner for Bedfordshire, passed on his condolences to Penny’s loved ones.

The horror unfolded at around midday on September 22 as Penny ran an errand.
