Snelling had been part of the university’s stunt team  – an athletic troupe that performs routines such as pyramids, jumps, and tumbling.

Cops swooped on a property in Lexington, Kentucky, on Wednesday after receiving reports of an unresponsive baby.

Snelling, 21, who was identified as the child’s mother, was arrested on Sunday.

She was arrested just six days after the semester for the new academic year started. More than 35,000 students attend the university.

Snelling, who majored in interdisciplinary disability studies, no longer attends the university, a spokesperson for the institution told The U.S. Sun.

The representative confirmed she is no longer part of the stunt team.

It’s not known if she was kicked out of the university, or she left on a voluntary basis.

Snelling, who turned 21 in January, is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant.

She was hit with the charges after appearing to make a confession to cops.

Snelling, of White Pine, Tennessee, admitted that she tried to conceal the birth by cleaning evidence, according to a police report.

She then put the cleaning items in a bag as well as her newborn child.

Snelling also admitted she gave birth to the child.

Earlier this week, she pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been put under house arrest.

She appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday and was downcast throughout the hearing.

Timeline of Laken Snelling’s case

Laken Snelling, 21, faces charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant after her baby was found dead in a closet in Lexington, Kentucky. Below is a timeline of the case:

August 25 – First day of fall classes at University of Kentucky, where Snelling is enrolled as a Senior.
August 27 – Police are dispatched to a home in Lexington, Kentucky, to reports of an unresponsive baby. A baby later identified as Snelling’s son is found dead in a closet at the home.
August 31 – Snelling is arrested and booked in the Fayette County Detention Center.
September 1 – She is released on $100,000 bond and is put on house arrest at her parents’ home in Tennessee.
September 2 – Snelling pleads not guilty to the three charges.
September 26 – Her preliminary hearing is scheduled.

At moments, her head was stooped downward.

She is forced to live with her parents in Jefferson County, Tennessee – which is located around 200 miles from the college.

But, mystery still surrounds the death of Snelling’s child.

Kentucky coroners conducted an autopsy and they ruled inconclusive.

They confirmed that the baby found in a bag was a boy.

Coroners didn’t reveal any details regarding how the child died.

“We are currently conducting a thorough and methodical death investigation to ensure all facts are carefully considered,” Gary Ginn, the Fayette County coroner, said.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 26.
