CHELSEA have handed Raheem Sterling an awkward omen.

The winger’s number could be up at Stamford Bridge as his “7” shirt has been taken away – and now an embarrassing match-day blunder has made things worse.

Sterling revealed his discontent after the Blues axed him from their first Premier League squad of the season – Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat against Manchester City.

And he might not be too pleased by what happened ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off against Servette.

Fans spotted that Chelsea had wrongly listed the 29-year-old at his usual No7 in the squad for the first leg at the Bridge.

However, that number has instead been allocated to £54million newcomer Pedro Neto.

The ex-Wolves winger was in the starting line-up against the Swiss visitors – with Sterling again not even a sub.

The former England attacker and Trevoh Chalobah were earlier stripped of their numbers.

That’s because boss Enzo Maresca hope to offload a string of senior players.

Maresca aims to be left with a much-tighter squad of around 21 serious contenders for places.
