Only hours before the gunmen broke through the barricade into Israel, Jake Marlowe, 26, sent a text to his mum saying rockets were flying overhead and promised to keep in touch.
The UK national was working security at the peace music festival near the border and has not been heard from since Saturday morning.
Early Saturday morning, he said: “Signal very bad, everything is okay, I will keep you updated I promise you. Love you.”
Terrified mum Lisa told Jewish News: “He was doing security at this rave yesterday and called me at 4.30am to say all these rockets were flying over.
“Then, at about 5.30am, he texted to say, ‘signal very bad, everything OK, will keep you updated I promise you,’ and that he loves me.
“I’ve left him lots of WhatsApp messages but I’ve not been able to leave him a message… I can’t bear to listen to the phone just ringing and not being answered.”
Hundreds of other attendees of the music festival remain missing, and many were kidnapped and taken into Gaza.
Terrifying footage showed festival goers fleeing for their lives on foot and in cars as gunfire rang out across the dusty field.
A witness, Gili Yoskovich, described people “dying all around” as she stayed silent in a desperate attempt to escape the terror group’s hail of bullets.
One attendee, 30-year-old German tattoo artist Shani Louk, was killed and had her naked body paraded through the streets by Hamas.
Mum Ricarda said in a heart wrenching video: “We were sent a video in which I could clearly see our daughter unconscious in the car with the Palestinians and them driving around the Gaza Strip. I ask you to send us any help or any news.”
25-year-old Noa Argamani was filmed screaming for help as she was snatched from the music festival by gunmen on a motorbike.
She plead: “Don’t kill me! No, no, no,” as the men sped away with her.
Later photos appeared to show Noa alive in Hamas custody within the city limits of Gaza.
Videos from the music event show people dancing in the desert at dawn unaware that within minutes complete chaos would unfold.
The death toll from the conflict has increased from around 300 Israelis to nearly 600, thought to be from many who attended the festival.
Unverified photos circulating on Twitter have shown piles of bodies in a tent by the site of the massacre.
OSINTdefender, a reputable open-intelligence source with thousands of followers, reported more than 250 bodies were found.
Many of the missing and dead from the music festival are rumoured to be foreign nationals, including Americans, Germans, Canadians and Norwegians, though this remains unverified.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that Americans have died in the Hamas attacks, and more are missing – potentially kidnapped and taken to Gaza.

A British national, Nathanel Young, was also killed after fierce fighting broke out when Hamas stormed the border amid a hail of 5,000 rockets.
The London-born soldier was living in Tel Aviv and serving as a member of the Israeli Army‘s 13th Batallion.
In a heartbreaking statement, his family said: “He loved his family and friends and was loved by everyone.
“He loved music and was a talented DJ. Always willing to go to any lengths for his loved ones.”
Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu warned that the first part of the war was over and an “offensive formation” would start.
Israel confirmed that civilians and soldiers are being held hostage by Hamas near the Gaza Border,
Some experts have suggested the hostages could be used as human bargaining chips in exchange for prisoners kept in Israeli jails.
Senior Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri said his force had enough Israeli captives to force the release of around 5,000 Palestinian prisoners.
