CHRIS EUBANK JR faces a British Boxing Board of Control probe after cracking an egg over Conor Benn’s face.

The born rivals went face-to-face for the first time since their grudge match got rescheduled for 26 April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And fists almost flew early on stage after Eubank smashed an EGG into Benn’s face – a reference to his failed drug test three years ago.

It sparked a mass brawl with Benn, promoter Eddie Hearn and his dad Nigel grappling to get a piece of Eubank.

Eventually, the teams were dragged off stage with the bad blood brewing ahead of the 160lb middleweight fight.

The sons of British legends will meet again tomorrow at Tottenham – the scene of the pay-per-view fight – for another heated press conference.

But a sit down face off to promote the fight – scheduled for today – has now been scrapped amid security concerns.

And BBBoC chief Robert Smith confirmed Eubank will also be summoned to a hearing to determine his punishment over the egg attack.

Smith told BoxingScene: “It was irresponsible. I’m not really bothered by the egg, it’s the fact that Eubank struck Benn.

“That an egg was in his hand at the time is irrelevant, it’s the striking that we have an issue with.”

The board could advise to cancel the fight, suspended licences or issue a fine – which is the most common and likely case.

Eubank’s dad Chris Sr and Benn’s father Nigel share one of the nation’s most fierce rivalries.

The 1990 original was won by Eubank Sr before he escaped with a controversial draw at Old Trafford three years later.

More than three decades on and their boys were ready to do battle in October 2022.

But the 157lb catchweight clash was dramatically axed with just days to go after Benn failed two doping tests.

The unbeaten welterweight tested positive for clomifene – a banned substance known to boost testosterone.

Benn had his BBBoC license removed while he was investigated.

He has since had his provisional ban lifted by UK Anti-Doping.

One theory behind his failed test infamously shared by the World Boxing Council was a high intake of egg consumption.

So Eubank wasted no time in making reference to the failed test by cracking the yolk on Benn’s face.

Benn’s promoter Hearn fumed at the stunt and admitted tomorrow’s press conference is in doubt.

He said: “I don’t know if we can do Thursday’s press conference to be honest with you, because it will be attack on sight.

“It won’t be ‘have a sleep on it, calm down’, because it’s a one-upmanship.

“It wasn’t a slap, it was with an object in the eye. From my point of view it’s unacceptable, but the game is the game.

“If you want to play those games, then the fun really begins and it might not be the fun that people want.

“Certainly now, I could not let Conor Benn near Chris Eubank Jr. I could not let Nigel Benn anywhere near Chris Eubank Jr.

“Whether that changes over 48 hours we will see, but these two need to be kept apart and they can’t be anywhere near each other.”

Eubank, 35, shared the viral egg slap and posted: “Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests.

“So I contaminated him with an egg.”

Benn, 28, hit back: “That’s the only shot you’ll land on me you f***ing p***k. 2 rounds you are finished.”
