Smith’s opponent has a record of 26-2-1 coming into the bout in Sheffield, but has put himself into title contention with a strong run of recent showings.

Germain, 35, has not lost since November 2020 and has won each of his last eight.

Stats suggest Smith has a clear power advantage over Germain, winning 13 of his 17 fights by KO.

The Canadian has won 11 of 26 by KO, putting Smith at a 76 per cent KO rate, and Germain at just 42 per cent.
