TOTTENHAM chief Daniel Levy has landed in Munich ahead of talks to sign Mathys Tel before the deadline.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Spurs are pushing to try and beat a number of other Premier League clubs to the signature of the Bayern Munich forward.

Tel, 19, has been struggling for minutes in Bavaria and told the Bayern hierarchy he wants out this week.

And despite initial reports of a loan exit, it looks as though the Frenchman could be heading to north London on a permanent deal.

It’s claimed that there is an agreement in place already between Tottenham and Bayern for a fee of around £50m.

And bigwig Levy is now in Germany to hold face to face talks with Tel and his agent in a bid to convince him on the project at Spurs.

A number of other Premier League sides have been linked with Tel this month, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea.

However, it’s been suggested that guaranteed game time as part of Ange Postecoglou‘s injury-riddled squad is a key factor in the France U21 international’s thinking.

Tel only just signed a new deal at Bayern Munich last March and is currently tied down to the Allainz until 2029.

The versatile attacker had made just five starts across all competitions this season with manager Vincent Kompany looking elsewhere in his squad to find contributions in front of goal.

But the former Stade Rennais man had a more fruitful campaign last term, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in the Bundesliga.

Some reports claim that Tel is yet to make a decision on if he wants to leave Bavaria on a permanent of temporary basis, with Bayern open to both options.

Tottenham fans have been urging the ownership to dig into their pockets and fork out for some new signings in January.

Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky have already come through the door, while winger Min-hyeok Yang arrived too before being sent out on loan to QPR for the remainder of the season.

It had been claimed that Spurs were keen on a sensational move for Man Utd’s frozen-out star Marcus Rashford, who has seen the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain contact his representatives this month.

But the Guardian suggest that Rahford has snubbed a switch to Tottenham in the hopes of landing a move to Barcelona instead.
