Evans’ management company broke the news, saying: “We send our deepest condolences to Ricky Evans and his family and friends, after the devastating news of the sudden passing of his sister Elisha.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ricky.”

He then shared several images of the pair together on social media.

He wrote a touching caption that read: “My beautiful little sister Elisha… I love you so much. I’ll always be your best friend.”

Fellow player Ross Smith added: “Very sorry to hear this awful news. Sending love to Ricky and his family.”

Fans also penned heartfelt messages, with one writing: “Terrible news.”

More said: “So sad and such a shame.”

Evans, who made the third round of the World Championships earlier this year, is one of the most popular players on tour.

He has made it as far as the last-32 six times and he got to the UK Open semi-final last year.

Nicknamed ‘Rapid Ricky’ due to his speed of play, the Kettering-born star is currently the world No43.

Evans rose in popularity at the recent World Championships thanks to his eye-catching walk-ons and dress sense.

When beating Chisnall at Ally Pally on December 23, he wore a festive-themed outfit and made his way to the stage while Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens blasted out the speakers.
