PETER WRIGHT hopes his weight loss will pay off – as he vows to bring back the old Snakebite.
The two-time world champion has had a torrid 2025 – falling down the rankings to No16.

But Wright is hoping to get back to his best having reached the Last 16 of the Czech Open after beating Benjamin Pratnemer.
He said: “I’m trying to boost myself and play like old Snakebite, but I’m coming back, I lost a bit of weight and I’m going to be better tomorrow.
“Obviously, I got dropped off at the gate security, I had to walk through many in the crowd and there’s so many Snakebite fans, and I really, really appreciate it.
“It’s nice to know there’s so many Snakebite fans still around and I’ll be back, don’t you worry.
“These fans, it’s what we need everywhere and, to be honest, I think you’re the greatest fans.”
Wright was eventually beaten 6-5 by Stephen Bunting today and failed to reach the quarter-finals.
But the 55-year-old has gained praise for his loss of weight as one fan said: “Good for him, that’s a solid transformation.
“Always a good reminder that health is the real wealth.”

Another added: “Peter Wright looking well after his weight loss transformation.”
In January, Wright admitted he was a “big fat f***” in a hilarious admission.
But he added: “I’ve got to be losing weight soon. That will be good. Everyone else is doing that same thing.
“It’s no good being a fat old darts player up there, trying to play darts. Make it work, work hard, and the results will come.
“I want to lose a couple of stone. That means more exercise. Eat properly. We’re having a pool built for the grand kids. I cannot swim.
“So (wife) Jo will either put her foot on my head – or I have got to learn to swim.”
