Wright, 55, averaged just 74.62.
He missed six of his seven doubles.
And now he has not won a major darts title since the 2023 European Championship.
Former Premier League champion Glen Durrant fears Wright knows himself that his glory days may be behind him.
He said: “I think he knows deep down his game is just not there right now.
“I knew he was coming here where maybe the big stage would motivate him.
“But this has been a disappointment.
“I’ve often admired him where he’s believed ‘I will win a tournament this year’.

“He is scoring nowhere near like he can do.
“It’s just unlike Peter Wright.”
Wright has not gone beyond the fourth round in his last three majors this year.
He most recently crashed out in round one of the World Matchplay.
At the 2025 World Championships, Wright dumped defending champ Luke Humphries out in the fourth round.
However, he fell at the next hurdle to Stephen Bunting.
Snakebite was then snubbed from the Premier League for the first time in 11 years.
