Smith’s grey BMW was driven into the Portman Road car park protected by a police escort as the authorities held back the home fans.

And while many were content to make an intimidating atmosphere with chanting and blue flares, one yob attacked the vehicle with the beer which landed on the bonnet.

It is understood Smith’s car directly followed the Norwich team bus to the stadium.

And that meant she got a very hostile reception – just like the coach in front.

Ipswich fans arrived in their thousands to get there early for the crunch clash.

The Tractor Boys are loving life under former Manchester United assistant boss Kieran McKenna.

The 37-year0ikd ex-Tottenham youngster took over two years ago today and immediately sparked a dramatic turnaround for Ipswich.

The club missed out on the 2021-22 play-offs but won promotion last term – thanks in part to a 19-game winning run.

And the Suffolk side are enjoying a stunning first season back in the Championship.

Their 51-point haul from their first 21 matches of the season broke the record for the best start to a Championship campaign – only for it to be beaten by league leaders Leicester 24 hours later on Wednesday night.

Ipswich head into the derby showdown one point behind the Foxes and know victory would see them leapfrog Enzo Maresca’s side as they take on Birmingham on Monday night.
