He was photographed driving home from Windsor Castle earlier than usual after going horse-riding that morning so he could be back at Royal Lodge for lunchtime.
It is understood he facilitated the meeting and invited the Chinese ambassador for the “introduction” but he is not thought to have stayed.
Just three days later, the Duke of York was named in court papers linking him to Chinese spy Yang Tengbo — although their relationship had been privately known since the summer.
The news comes as The Sun can also reveal photos of Andy with Tengbo — banned from the UK over claims he is a national security risk — are still showing on Buckingham Palace’s official Facebook page.
The pair — plus China’s then-ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming and senior Communist Party politician Gao Yunlong — had been snapped together at the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in London in 2019.
‘ONE DISASTER TO ANOTHER’
A British court heard last year that Tengbo was a Chinese spy, an allegation that he denies.
Former Home Office Minister Norman Baker told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show news of the December meeting was “extraordinary”.
He said: “Andrew goes from one disaster to another, and shows a complete lack of judgement.
“He also shows he’s interested in pursuing things for himself rather than on behalf of this country.”
Andy now faces fresh calls to be removed from 31-room Royal Lodge.
The King has been trying to force him out for years.
The Duke of York was approached for comment.
