The 41-year-old Colombian woman’s hacked up body was later discovered on a Gran Canaria beach.

The owner of a popular bar has been arrested for suspected murder following the shocking discovery.

Police believe the person who killed her had first stabbed her in the neck before trying to dismember her body.

Horrifyingly, they also think she was she was unconscious but bleeding to death while the attacker chopped at her legs.

Part of her neck was also hacked off.

Officers think this was an attempt to dispose of her body in a container or bags before the corpse was left on a San Andres beach.

The bar where the owner was arrested has now been sealed off with police tape and an armed guard.

Her mutilated body was discovered by a person walking on the beach, who reported it to the police.

The Armed Forces’ Homicide Unit was deployed amid the search for her killer.

The owner of a popular bar was arrested at his home in Las Torres yesterday.

He is due to appear in court either today or tomorrow.

A search has been conducted at both his house and business premises.

The investigation is open and cops have not ruled out further arrests.

Several officers in balaclavas took away a number of sealed plastic bags as they collected potential evidence.

It is not the only tragedy to have struck the Canary Islands in recent days.

A man in his late 40s plunged 100 feet to his death while trying to take a selfie from a hotel rooftop on the islands.

He is reported to have fallen to the promenade while trying to take the snapshot in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident, but he was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
