The paediatrician was twice caught speeding in 2018 but claimed she was part of an emergency team moving between hospitals for “life-saving surgery”.

She forged ambulance service letters and a doctor’s note in a bid to get the six licence points erased.

Lestner, who worked at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, was exposed when police sought to verify the documents.

She also lied about going into premature labour and forged other job-related letters.

Lestner, who cited bipolar disorder and psychosis for her “bizarre behaviour”, got caught speeding again during the probe.

She got a suspended prison sentence in 2020 for perverting the course of justice and was referred to the General Medical Council.

Lestner, of Cardiff, did not attend the Manchester hearing.

It found the “otherwise good clinician” guilty of serious professional misconduct, saying: “Her dishonesty was repeated, of a persistent nature and serious.’’
