A DOUBLE murderer was attacked in jail with a jagged tuna tin lid in a copycat attack of the one that saw killer Dad Urfan Sharif slashed, it is claimed.

Jonathan Houseman – who killed two including the brother of a West End star – was allegedly targeted in a prison cell ambush by a group of lags.

Houseman, 36 – who shot dead two pals in a Range Rover in 2020 to avoid paying a £400,000 debt – was said to be left seriously injured after being cut to the face and body.

Sources said he was slashed repeatedly at Category A Long Lartin Prison after the tin of tuna was bought in the jail’s canteen.

Houseman – serving time for the execution of Brian McIntosh and Will Henry, the brother of Kinky Boots actor Matt – was apparently treated in the jail’s healthcare unit after the attack.

It comes after we told how Urfan Sharif, 43 – who killed 10-year-old daughter Sara – was slashed in the neck with a tuna tin lid in January in HMP Belmarsh, south London.

And a source said: “People have been talking about whether it’s a copycat attack as the same weapon was used. Everyone had heard about the attack on Sharif and that could be where they got the idea to use the tuna lid, although prisoners are resourceful when it comes to making weapons.”

Houseman was jailed for life – with a minimum of 40 years – in September 2021 for “cold-bloodedly” killing the two men in Dudley, West Midlands.

His trial heard he had dealings with his victims and had not paid them for clearing waste from a site he owned in Halesowen.

He was out his cell for several days after being slashed – and has since had protection around him increased.

Our source added: “Jonathan was in his cell when he was ambushed – they came for him and got him pretty badly.

“The attack did not go on for long, before prison officers came rushing to the scene. “They saved him but he was still in a bad state – bloodied and bruised.

“Some inmates because they had an issue with him and it was up to four who attacked him.

“The word is was to do with his case which happened fairly locally so there’s likely to be a link.

“They slashed his body using a tuna tin, then the ambulances came and he was gone for a few days.”

As he was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court, Mr Justice Martin Spencer told Houseman he killed both men “in what was effectively an execution”.

His co-defendant Richard Avery was cleared of murder but found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Housman was seen on CCTV getting out of the car after the murders, before driving in another vehicle to Avery’s car wash in a shopping centre.

Mr McIntosh was shot four times in the face and neck and Mr Henry was shot twice.

We told in January how killer Urfan Sharif, 43, was slashed in the face and neck by a lag wielding a jagged tuna tin lid in a New Year’s Day ambush by two lags at Belmarsh.

Prison bosses believe killer Steve Sansom carried out that attack.

Sharif was lucky to survive after being targeted weeks into his life sentence for murdering innocent Sara after a campaign of abuse.

We later revealed he had been moved to Frankland Prison, County Durham – dubbed Monster Mansion – where he is said to be being protected by an Islamist gang.

Sharif was caged last December alongside Sara’s stepmum Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29, after an Old Bailey trial that horrified Britain.

The Prison Service did not comment.
