THIS is the dramatic moment police chased a drunk dad and son through a corn field before they killed a woman in a horror crash.

Marcin Jablonski, 44, attempted to evade cops by driving the £80,000 stolen Land Rover through 6ft-high crops.

The footage shows him driving in circles while being pursued by a helicopter and two police cars in Norfolk.

He then rejoined the A143 single carriageway near Earsham where he smashed head-on into Aisatou Mballow Baldeh.

The 28-year-old suffered catastrophic injuries after her Nissan Juke was flipped onto the roof and sadly couldn’t be saved.

Jablonski, who was four times the drink-drive limit, has now been jailed for 11 years at Norfolk Crown Court.

The dad admitted causing death by dangerous driving, having no insurance, causing death while a disqualified driver, aggravated vehicle taking and criminal damage.

His son Thomas Urbaniak, 26, was handed a two year sentence for aggravated vehicle taking, burglary and being in a vehicle driven by someone causing death by dangerous driving.

The dramatic footage showed the pair weaving through the corn field for 2km as a chopper circled overhead.

A police officer could be heard saying: “He is snaking through the long crops… he can’t see where he’s going.”

The court was told Jablonski arrived in the UK from Poland after he served an 18-month jail term for stealing a power line.

He also has seven convictions for 15 offences in the UK including three for drink-driving.

At the time of the tragedy, Jablonski had been banned from driving for 22 months.

On August 11 last year, his son swiped the Land Rover keys in a raid at a flooring firm near his home in Suffolk.

The pair then returned two days later and took the car, which was swiftly reported missing by its owner.

As Jablonski led police through the crops, unaware Aisatou was driving to a night shift on the single carriageway.

The driver lost control of the Land Rover and veered onto the other side of the road, where he hit the business management student.

Both he and Urbaniak managed to escape with minor injuries, while Aisatou was declared dead at the scene.

Tests on the Land Rover established the damage it received in the field had caused a complete and catastrophic failure of the vehicle’s offside front steering and inbuilt computer.

Aisatou’s husband pays tribute

Heartbroken husband Bocar paid tribute to Aisatou, saying they were “so very much in love” and “wished to have a large family” together.

He also revealed the student “wanted to become a mother” and was not only a “beautiful and loving person on the inside” but a “very beautiful person on the outside too”.

He said he had been “left with an empty space” where his wife used to be.

Bocar added: “She was my everything – the love of my life.”

Det Insp David McCormack of Norfolk Police, who led the investigation, said: “It’s impossible to put into words the truly awful impact of this tragedy, and our thoughts remain with Mrs Mballow-Baldeh’s husband, family, and friends.

“Jablonski and Urbaniak’s decision to drive on that day, drive a stolen vehicle and drive so recklessly without a second thought for anyone else who happened to be on that road at the same time, just going about their day-to-day business, is heartbreaking.

“They had every opportunity to stop and they chose not to, and that decision had devastating consequences and caused terrible suffering that was wholly avoidable.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an independent investigation into the horror.
