Following the crash, a 7-mile stretch of the busy road, between Rings End roundabout and Wisbech, was closed.

Cambridgeshire Police has confirmed today that the driver of the car died after the collision.

The busy stretch of road is reported to typically see at least 20,000 vehicles pass through each day.

While it is not yet clear how the crash unfolded, the double-decker bus could be seen lying in a field next to the road with a smashed windscreen.

Aerial footage also showed the car resting on the other side of the road in a ditch, surrounded by emergency crews.
