Hojlund‘s first of the night came in the 36th minute after he was played through by Kevin De Bruyne.

The striker slotted his effort past the on-rushing Rui Silva with a composed finish.

The pair combined for a second time to restore Napoli’s lead as Hojlund, 22, headed home from the midfielder’s cross.

He celebrated his second goal by pointing to the Champions League badge on his shirt’s sleeve.

And many fans reckon it was a dig at his parent club, Manchester United, having been frozen out and replaced by Benjamin Sesko.

One posted: “Hojlund taking a dig at Amorim and Manchester United after scoring a brace in UCL.”

A second wrote: “Dude is roasting Man United.”

A third commented: “Manchester United was the problem.”

A fourth said: “Bro is making a statement.”

Another added: “Since he left Man United, he’s been great.”

The brace takes Hojlund to three for the season in five appearances.

It is expected that Napoli will make his loan permanent, but can only do so if they qualify for the Champions League next term.

The evening rubbed more salt into the wounds of United fans as Marcus Rashford also impressed.

The forward, on loan at Barcelona, assisted Ferran Torres against Paris Saint-Germain in their late 2-1 defeat.

Rashford has four assists and two goals for the Catalan side in nine appearances across the Champions League and LaLiga.

Meanwhile, United are currently 14th in the Premier League table with manager Ruben Amorim under mounting pressure.

New signings Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have scored just three goals between them in all competitions.
