Tom Curry was knocked unconscious as he attempted to tackle Australia’s Rob Valetini
Curry was knocked to the floor before being forced off
England were leading 15-3 at the time of the incident.
However, referee Ben O’Keeffe did not immediately stop play and only did so after Valetini waved at him to inform him of Curry’s situation.
Three Lions’ flanker received treatment on the field after the huge blow.
He was then able to get back to his feet but was unable to continue.
Curry will now have to serve a concussion stand-down period that will rule him out of the game against South Africa next week.
As the 26-year-old left the field Valetini walked over to check if he was okay, with the pair acknowledging one another in a handshake.
Co-commentator Ben Kay was heard telling main commentator Nick Mullins: “Curry’s out, Nick, he’s knocked out.
“He’s on the floor, they need to stop the game!”
