Everton welcomed Mansfield at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, having played their first competitive match at the ground at the weekend.
The match was due to kick off at 7:45pm, but was rescheduled for 8pm.
The announcement was made on the club’s social media just 11 minutes before the initial kick off was due.
A brief statement read: “Tonight’s game will now start at 8pm to allow fans safe access to the stadium in time for kick-off.”
The Merseyside club are starting a new era in their brand new 52,769-seat stadium after leaving historic ground Goodison Park at the end of last season.
Life in the new ground got off to a winning start on Sunday when Jack Grealish helped propel them to a 2-0 victory over Brighton with two assists.
Now David Moyes‘ side want to keep the good feeling going with a victory over League One Mansfield.
Mansfield, who beat Chesterfield to reach the second round of the competition, are hoping to cause a shock and build on a run of three consecutive victories.
