Fans of both clubs chanted the name of the former England Under-21 star.
And while the 23-year-old was being treated, Lille officials on the sidelines looked distraught.
He was taken to hospital as the game was halted for 30 minutes – ahead of 34 minutes of stoppage time in all.
The Old Trafford academy product, who won 18 England Under-21 caps, left United for Lille four years ago.
