Malcolm Ebiowei completed a permanent transfer to Blackpool from Crystal Palace on August 5.

The winger signed a two-year contract at Bloomfield Road, with the club holding the option of an extra year.

Ebiowei, 22, expressed his excitement at completing the switch to join the League One outfit, where he would have been hoping for regular first-team football.

However, after less than a month at Blackpool, his contract was terminated.

Steve Bruce’s side did not give any explanation for his sudden exit.

Instead, they released a brief statement to confirm the departure.

Blackpool said: “Blackpool Football Club can announce that Malcolm Ebiowei has left the club by mutual consent.

“The club wishes Malcolm all the best for the future.”

Ebiowei played four times for Blackpool, coming on as a substitute and suffering defeat in all four.

He was not in the squad, though, for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Bolton – five days before he was released.

Ebiowei spent ten years in the Chelsea and Arsenal academies before two years with Rangers.

He made his senior breakthrough with Derby in 2021-22 and ironically scored the only goal of his career in a 2-0 win away at Blackpool.

Despite reported interest from Manchester United, Tottenham and Leeds, the South Londoner joined Palace at the end of that season on a five-year deal.

He made five first-team appearances, including three in the Premier League in 2022-23, before loan spells at Hull, RWD Molenbeek in Belgium and Oxford.

Ebiowei has played youth international football for both Holland and England.
