Now, as deputy director of Detention Action, she is opposing the Government’s Rwanda policy.
Tory MP Marco Longhi said: “It’s really concerning to see civil servants transitioning to roles that actively oppose government policies.
“This raises questions about the alignment of their actions with their responsibilities while in post.
“How is it possible for politicians to maintain confidence in a service that is meant to be impartial when this happens?
“Is it really any surprise that all Home Office actions seem to be permanently opposing what the government wants to achieve?
“How can politicians deliver on their elected mandate?
“I want to see a review into how we maintain the integrity of governance, and therefore public trust, and how politicians can more easily remove failing or obstructive civil servants.”
Last night Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch UK said Glenister has placed herself perfectly to attack the government’s immigration policies.
He said: “It’s clear that as someone who had the lead role in drafting the rules that apply to the detention and removal of illegal immigrants and immigration offenders, Jade Glenister will know where the loopholes are.”
