A FOUR-TIME WWE world champion has been banned fom wrestling for six months following a violent incident with fans.
The Mexican superstar’s career has suffered yet another blow following a series of concerning incidents outside the ring.
Former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio has been suspended for six months
Del Rio was involved in a physical altercation during a AAA show in MexicoX
Alberto Del Rio was seen as the next big star in WWE when he joined the main roster in 2010 as he shared the ring with the likes of John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Edge and more.
Del Rio, 47, quickly won the Men’s Royal Rumble, the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match as well as four world titles.
However, the lucha libre great was fired in 2014 after allegedly slapping a WWE employee who made a racist remark.
The ex-WWE Champion was rehired in 2015 and despite a big US Championship win over Cena on his second debut, his second run quickly turned stale and was released only a year later.
Del Rio went on to compete for various other promotions as Alberto El Patron and also main-evented the independent scene.
However, a number of incidents led to his stock plummeting, and his career hit a major low after he was arrested in 2020, in San Antonio, Texas after allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his girlfriend.
Del Rio was charged with one count of sexual assault as well as another of assault causing bodily harm and was later released on $50,000 (£38,559) bail.
The professional wrestler was indicted by a grand jury and formally charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.

But the ex-MMA fighter’s trial was delayed several times until the charges were ultimately dropped in 2021.
And now Del Rio has landed himself in hot water once more after a AAA Worldwide show in Tijuana ended with fan violence on Friday.
According to TV Azteca, as reported by Give Me Sport, the former World Heavyweight Champion was in a match against El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
While the two were going at it, fans were reportedly throwing coins and beer at Del Rio.
A video then showed the furious ex-WWE supertar angrily marching to the stands and apparently throwing a chair at fans.
But another fan apparently retaliated by throwing a chair straight at him.
A fight then allegedly broke out, which reportedly resulted in an elderly woman getting injured.
Reports suggest she was taken to a hospital due to her injuries from the show.
The same source claims Del Rio’s physical involvement led to the Tijuana Commission suspending Del Rio from competing in the Mexican city over the next 180 days.
