JOE ROOT gave away his wicket against the Netherlands at the Cricket World Cup in a farcical manner.
The England star was bowled by Logan van Beek after failing to pull off a reverse sweep.

Root, 32, has not enjoyed the best of time as England have already been eliminated from the later stages of the tournament.
Against their European neighbours, England started well however but Root was out for just 28 runs off of 35 balls.
He threw away his wicket trying to pull off a shot which saw the ball bypass the bat and fly through his legs and onto the stumps.
And fans are convinced that Root would actually be counting his blessings that the ball hit the wicket.
This is because if it had been a couple of inches higher the batter would have taken a blow to his box.
One fan posted: “Joe Root played the dumbest shot ever in the history of Cricket.”
A second joked: “Trust me Joe Root was happy it just hit the stumps.”
A third wrote: “Ball just missed the b***s and hits the bails.”

A fourth commented: “Joe Root had a different style of getting out.”
A fifth said: “Getting nutmegged in cricket The England rot is eating away at Joe Root.”
Another added: “The lesser spotted cricketing nutmeg for Joe Root. Ceaseless innovators.”
England was able to recover from the wicket and bat their way to 339 runs after 50 overs.
Much of this was down to the superb innings’ from Dawid Malan (87) and Ben Stokes (108).
England are currently bottom of the table and risk missing out on the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
