Sky SportsThis gave him extra leverage for his angle to shoot the ball around the wall[/caption]

And he took just 19 minutes to get back amongst the goals after netting a free-kick into the bottom corner of the goal.

But it was hugely controversial.

Initially, fans blasted the defensive wall set up by Matt Turner.

But it turns out the goal was less down to Turner and the wall and more to do with the controversial act performed by Toney just moments before he took the free-kick.

TV cameras spotted the England Euro 2024 hopeful’s sneaky act which gave him a better angle from which to shoot at goal.

Toney could be seen moving the ball – and the foam placed by the referee to mark the spot the free-kick could be taken from – to his right.

This gave Toney a better improved angle from which he clinically finished into the bottom corner leaving Turner with no chance.

Reacting to the act on X, formerly known as Twitter, one furious fan said: “Toney moving the ball to a more favourable position. Ban him again.”

A second fan said: “Ivan Toney caught red-handed moving the vanishing foam (and the ball) while the referee’s back is turned.”

A third said: “Ivan Toney does not score that goal if he didn’t move the ball and the white foam. How did VAR not check that?!”

Another said: “Toney not only moved the ball after the wall was set, he moved it a second time and even moved the foam I’ll give Turner a break on this one.”

While a fifth said: “Naughty boy Toney, moving the ball & the foam whilst ref wasn’t looking! Still a useless wall with that gap & GK in wrong position.”

Ironically, Toney’s goal against Forest goal in the top flight since he scored a free-kick against Forest in April.

Toney has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Brentford this month.

SunSport have outlined three reasons why Toney would be the perfect striker candidate for Chelsea this month.

However, with reports suggesting Toney could be sold for as much as £100million, Frank has said he is “99 per cent confident” the forward will not move away this month.
