Dahlmeier, 31, has won two Olympic gold medals and seven world championship titles during her glittering career.
A rescue team was deployed but could not reach the biathlete until this morning.
However, they have been unable to reach her as of yet.
German reports have claimed that she is judged to be at “least seriously injured.”
Dahlmeier’s management have released a statement to ZDF revealing what is believed to have happened.
It read: “Laura Dahlmeier was climbing alpine style with her climbing partner on July 28th when she was hit by rockfall.
“The accident happened around noon local time at an altitude of approximately 5,700 meters [18,700 feet].
“The climbing partner immediately called emergency services, and the rescue operation was initiated immediately.
“Due to the remoteness of the area, a rescue helicopter was unable to reach the scene until the morning of July 29.
“An international mountain rescue team is currently coordinating the rescue operation.

Her management have also added that further information will be released as soon as is avaliable.
The German athlete won both her gold medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
She won them in the Sprint and Pursuit events while she also won a bronze in the Individual event.
Dahlmeier retired from competing in May 2019 as she admitted she lacked the passion required to take part.
Later that year she co-authored and released a children’s book ‘The Climate Gang: Laura Dahlmeier and friends working for nature’.
She also entered the world of sports media as she was a pundit for the German broadcaater ZDF for the Biathlon World Cup.
