A BLONDE Brazilian law student suspected of four murders allegedly kept her dead landlord’s decomposing body in her home for five days, police say.

Ana Paula Veloso Fernandes allegedly confessed to murdering her landlord Marcelo Hari Fonseca in Guarulhos, Sao Paulo following an argument where she says he threatened her family.

Police have alleged Fernandes is a serial killer

She reportedly admitted to poisoning 10 dogs before moving on to human victims

Police say the 36-year-old woman told investigators she had stabbed him under his right armpit as he sat on the couch in January.

She allegedly told police she had concealed the entrance to the room with a sheet to stop her young son and niece from seeing the victim.

Fernandes said she only called police five days later after her son complained of the smell, as well as noticing maggots crawling around her home.

Police have alleged she later burned the sofa where Marcelo had been stabbed, to “remove the odours” and “clean the room”.

Marcelo’s daughter went to court to reopen the case after it was first closed due to a lack of evidence.

Investigators later connected the death to Fernandes in a wider probe into a series of poisonings.

Fernandes allegedly murdered four people between January and May of this year, with victims in both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Police say Fernandes confessed to killing 10 dogs to test the strength of the poison before using it on her human victims.

Her alleged victims have been named as Marcelo Hari Fonseca, Maria Aparecida Rodrigues, Hayder Mhazres, and Neil Correa de Silva.

Fernandes allegedly used poison in food and drinks in what police have described as killings motivated by revenge and financial gain.

Police say in the alleged murder of Neil Correia de Silva, his own daughter allegedly ordered the hit.

Investigators believe Michele Paiva de Queiroz paid Fernandes £540 (4000 Brazilian Real) to kill her father in Duque de Caxias..

Police Chief Halisson Ideiao described Fernandes as “extremely manipulative”, and that she “takes pleasure in killing” and shows “a lack of remorse”.

“Ana Paula takes pleasure in killing.

“Her motivation doesn’t really matter – she wants to kill,” he said.

Ideiao said she showed: “Coldness, a lack of remorse and a clear pleasure, not only in committing the crime, but in remaining around it, in witnessing the impact of what she did”.

“[She] would certainly attempt to kill others again,” he added.

Fernandes is currently being held in preventative detention as police await the results of toxicology tests on the exhumed bodies of her alleged victims.

The investigation remains ongoing.
