London Fire Brigade responded to calls of flames at 1.11AM today

The LFB confirmed there was “damage” to the front of the home – but the blaze was swiftly brought under control.

Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria clapped for the NHS during lockdown outside their North London home.

The PM – who now lives in his official residence at 10 Downing Street – unveiled his immigration overhaul in a press conference hours after the blaze took place.

Met Police officers were called to the scene at 1.35AM after LFB raised the alarm.

No one was injured in the fire and an urgent investigation has now been launched.

A cordon remains in place on the street this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told The Sun: “On Monday, 12 May at 01:35hrs, police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade to reports of a fire at a residential address.

“Officers attended the scene. Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, nobody was hurt.

“The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 441/12 May.”

A spokesperson for LFB added: ” The Brigade was called at 0111 and the fire was under control by 0133.

“Two fire engines from Kentish Town Fire Station attended the scene.”

It comes as the PM this morning revealed the Government plan to crack down on migration rules.

He estimated the reforms will cut migration figures by 100,000 per year.

This flagship Immigration White Paper includes a ten-year wait for UK citizenship, as opposed to five years.

Those who graft and pay taxes could also jump the queue for residency rights, while public service workers and top-skilled pros will be fast-tracked.

The language test bar is also set to be raised across all immigration route.

And, migrants will now require a uni degree to gain a skilled worker visa.

Labour also plan to shut loopholes that allow firms to blame a ‘skills gap’ to bring in cheap labour.

In the crackdown, overseas hiring is due to be banned in the care sector, with roles offered to Brits first.

Plus, every foreign citizen will need official digital ID to stay in the country.

Finally, foreign crooks hiding behind “family rights” to dodge deportation will be kicked out of the country.

The Home Office thinks new measures will improve integration prospects and ensure progression over time.
