Singh was set to tee-off on Thursday when the first major of the year begins.

But he has surprisingly withdrawn just three days from the start.

The Fijian veteran cited injury when telling Masters Competition Committees that he would not be featuring.

But the former world No1 did not specify what the health problem was.

Singh, who also won two PGA Championship titles, has played in the Masters every year since his debut in 1994.

This year was going to mark the 25th anniversary since he saw off the likes of Erine Els, David Duval and Tiger Woods for glory.

Despite regularly playing in Augusta, he has not challenged for first place since 2006.

Singh will not be replaced in the field but 95 players will still be in action later this week.

Singh is not the only former major champion not involved as legend Woods is out after rupturing his Achilles.
