Penn has shared a series of disturbing posts on Instagram claiming his mother, Lorraine Shin, and other family members had been murdered and replaced by imposters who are trying to steal his money and belongings.

And the Hawaiian found himself behind bars last Sunday for alleged “abuse of family or household member: offensive physical contact”.

Records show the 46-year-old was released on a £1484 ($2000) bail bond early on Monday morning.

Penn has yet to release an official statement on the allegation, although he did share footage of police trying to arrest him in his bedroom on social media.

In the clip, Penn is seen laying in his bed questioning the police as to why they want to arrest him.

The police then inform him that he’s being arrested for harassment before trying to drag him out of his room.

A perplexed Penn repeatedly asked the police what was happening, but was eventually led out of the house in handcuffs.

Penn has found himself in trouble with the law on numerous occasions in recent years.

In 2019, he had a temporary restraining order filed against him by his ex-girlfriend, who accused him of verbal, physical and sexual abuse during their ten-year relationship.

And he’s been visited by police so much as of late that he asked the cops during his recent arrest: “Can we call an officer that I know?”

It has since transpired that a restraining order filed by Penn’s mother was the catalyst for the Hall of Famer’s arrest.

In the request, which has yet to be approved or denied by a judge, Shin claimed her son has: “Used extreme psychological abuse towards me for over the past several months that I am not Lorraine Shin.

“I killed his family and have taken over his mother’s identity, and he wants me to be removed from his home.”

He believes I’m an imposter who has killed his family to gain control of the family assets.”

Shin believes the actions of Penn, who has multiple legal cases against him, are the result of his having Capgras delusion syndrome.

An excerpt of her restraining order request read: “I believe my son [B.J. Penn] is suffering from Capgras delusional syndrome (a psychiatric disorder in which a person holds a delusion that an identical imposter has replaced a friend, spouse, parent, other close family member).

“He believes I’m an imposter who has killed his family to gain control of the family assets.

“In the best interest for my safety, I ask the court for a six-month [temporary restraining order] and have my son ordered to get medical treatment or other source of therapy.”
