Fredrikstad vs Crystal Palace preview
Crystal Palace will look to get the job done on Thursday when they travel to the Fredrikstad Stadion for the second leg of their Conference League play-off tie.
The Eagles are strong favourites to win inside 90 minutes and book their place in the group stage – but it could be far less comfortable than they might’ve expected when the draw was made.
Oliver Glasner’s side dominated the first leg at Selhurst Park, enjoying nearly 75% possession, firing 25 shots, and posting an xG of 2.31 – while Fredrikstad failed to register a single shot on target.
But despite their control, Palace came away with just a slender 1-0 win, courtesy of Jean-Philippe Mateta’s goal, against a stubborn and spirited Norwegian outfit.
Glasner is still without a replacement for creative talisman Eberechi Eze – and that could prove a challenge on what’s likely to be a wet night on Fredrikstad’s artificial pitch.
Despite that, Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last 12 competitive matches – many against top-tier opposition – and should have enough quality to see off Fredrikstad.
The Norwegian side are having a bang-average season in their domestic top flight, sitting 10th out of 16 with just 26 points from a possible 54.
They’ve lost their last three on the bounce and have managed just one goal in their last four outings.

The 28-year-old talisman has bagged five goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions and grabbed the winner in last week’s first leg, registering a match-high three efforts.
He also leads the way for shots in the Premier League for Palace this season (5), averaging an attempt every 34.6 minutes. That should see him add to his tally against a Fredrikstad defence with one clean sheet in their last 15 games.
