The match was Selles’ first in charge of the team after he was appointed as Chris Wilder‘s replacement in the summer.

Scott Twine netted a brace, including a fantastic free kick while Ross McCorie and Anis Mehmeti also netted for the visitors.

Tyrese Campbell did score for the Blades but it turned out to be just a consolation.

Selles, 42, was left fuming at full time as he gave a team talk to the players on the PITCH.

Sky Sports cameras caught the moment that the manager laid into his stars.

Fans reacted to the moment on social media, likening the moment to an infamous Premier League one.

In 2008, Phil Brown sat his players down in front of the away end and delivered a furious team talk after Hull found themselves 4-0 down at half time away to Manchester City.

And one fan posted: “Not Ruben Selles doing a Phil Brown.”

A third commented: “Not the best look for a manager in his first game.”

The Blades had only beaten Bristol City in the playoffs last term, 3-0 in both home and away legs.

Selles took charge of the Blades in the summer after being sacked by Hull City.

He has some Premier League experience on his CV having taken charge of Southampton in 2022.

He took over from Nathan Jones for the final 17 league games of the season, winning two before the Saints were relegated.
