A FURIOUS Frankie Dettori ended Arc weekend winless after his appeal against a shock winner was thrown out.

Dettori, 52, immediately notified the stewards he wanted them to have a look at 28-1 winner Kelina’s run in the Prix de la Foret.

Record-breaking Arc winner Dettori suffered a winless weekend in Longchamp – summed up when his appeal against a shock winner was thrown outPA

The legendary Italian felt he was cut up on the Ralph Beckett-trained Kinross in the closing stages of the 7f sprint.

Kelina led a furlong from home and was pushed out strongly to see off the 3-5 fav by half a length in the end.

But a raging Dettori appealed the decision only to see stewards quickly dismiss it.

Beckett said afterwards: “We were second best on the day and that’s it. We weren’t good enough.”

The difference between first and second was more than £100,000 with the winner scooping £177,000.

Kinross’ owner Marc Chan won £70,805 for being runner-up.

Disappointment in the final race of Arc weekend meant Dettori left Longchamp empty-handed.

Free Wind got nowhere near breathtaking Arc winner Ace Impact, meaning there was to be no record-extending seventh win in the race for Dettori.

While 13-1 runner-up Jack Darcy was the closest he came to a winner after his length defeat to the awesome Horizon Dore in the Prix Dollar.

All in all Dettori was winless in eight rides at Longchamp.

Attention now turns to Ascot’s Champions Day on October 21 – Dettori’s final rides in Britain.

Kinross is 7-2 favourite for the Sprint Stakes where victory is worth a whopping £283,550.

The six-year-old could end up being Dettori’s last ever ride on his global farewell tour if he takes in the big Hong Kong sprint in December.
