THE Culture Secretary has handed taxpayers’ money to a Britain-hating punk duo who branded the UK an “extremely racist s***hole”.

And they have accepted the cash, despite calling the Government “fascists” and putting the Prime Minister on their “s*** list”.

Labour minister Lisa Nandy has described Brighton’s Lambrini Girls as “the best of British culture”.

They will get a share of a £1.6million grant from the Music Export Growth Scheme — despite saying they were “embarrassed” to be English.

The far-left group — made up of singer-guitarist Phoebe Lunny and bass player Lilly Macieira — will use the money for overseas promotion for their song God’s Country, a bitter attack on England.

The women, who played last year’s Glastonbury Festival, said: “Great Britain.

“Think colonial, s***hole, chunk of land.

“Thriving off unhinged nationalism, fed to us by the right red hand of unelected prime ministers.

Rishi, Cameron, Cummings, Starmer — you’re all on our s*** list.”

Singer Phoebe added: “I think it’s embarrassing to be from England.

“We’re extremely racist; we’re extremely xenophobic; our government are fascists.

“I don’t understand why anyone would be proud to be part of that.”

Ms Nandy said the cash fund would “help the next generation of artists to tour abroad, market themselves to new audiences and showcase the best of British culture and creativity to the world”.

Last year, then-Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch tried to block a £14,250 grant from the scheme to Northern Irish trio Kneecap, whose rap tracks have republican themes.

She said she did not want to hand taxpayers’ money “to people that oppose the United Kingdom itself”.

The group took legal action and won, netting the cash.

Labour decided not to contest the discrimination case.

A Kneecap biopic last year later won a Bafta.

Ms Badenoch, now Tory leader, said: “When I was Business Secretary, I stopped taxpayers’ money going to this type of nonsense.

“Labour just love handing out money to people who hate our country.”

The new awards also include a grant for Blossoms, the indie rock band who have already topped the albums chart four times.

Elliot Keck, of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “Ministers need to get in tune with taxpayers and stop funding Britain-bashing bands.”
